Annual piano course with Leonid Margarius

The course will be held by one of the great maestros and teacher of the russian school Leonid Margarius, who has established himself as an extraordinary teacher and educator of numerous artists among which there are winners of prestigious international piano competitions. It will be held in Napoli, a historically musical city and home to important site uch as: Teatro san Carlo, and the San Pietro a Majella conservatory, that have influenced the history and evolution of music, these are places where the greats of pianistic litterature have worked examples are Scarlatti and Thalberg.
The group behind the course is Associazione Napolinuova, this association has been working to orgnize courses, masters and concerts since 1995, working with the best artists from around the World.
The course will be held in the “Chopin room” of the historically significant Palazzo Mastelloni in Carità square in the centre of Naples near the famous buildings cited above.
The Chopin room is in the same building that is home to Dino Napolitano Pianoforti, a company founded in 1860 as a Steinway exclusive dealer, it is now one of the oldest italian copanies. They will provide participants to the course with a piano and technical support, in order to make partecipation as comfortable as possible. The course is open to pianists of any age and can be followed by pupils and listeners.
The course gives itself the objective of reaching “an international level of professionality” suitable for “international competitions” and concerts through the reinforcment and growth of single abilitys and qualities.
Moreover the course- apart from giving students the possibility to study with one of the best teachers in the world- will give the students opportunities that will enhance musical, cultural, and professional growth.
In particular:
- Opportunity to study on the magnificent Ditta Napolitano pianos during the course.
- Preparation of many concerts during the year. these will be advertised on newspapers, television, and social media, where partecipants can gain the kind of experience that can only be gained on-stage.
- Promotion of the most noteworthy partecipants to associations and agencies all around Italy and abroad, so as to contribute to the begining of potential careers.
- A historical and artistic tour may be organized to improve the partecipant's culture of the city of Naples. It is a course that doen't require a large sum in relation to the services it offers because of the will to make the course open to aas many people as possible, giving them the possibility to get to know one of the most beautiful cities in the world and its historic and musical heritage.
Rules
1) The course will be held on a bimonthly basis and made of 5 sessions between October 2020 and June 2021. Each session will be 4h long, and divided in 2 lessons (for a total of 20h).
2) Participants will be given a certificate for attendance and one for the conerts they wish to participate in.

4) The Deadline for applications is 25/09/2020.
5) Application fees for pupils and listners: euros 120.
6) This cost will only be refunded if the course is cancelled by the organizzers.
7) Dates of the course: 1st session will begin on 16/10/2020.
8) The dates for the following sessions will be decided during the previous one.
9) Attendace fees: Pupils: euros 2100, Listeners: euros 400.
10)Other Hours of lesson may be added to the ones forseen in the lesson plan.
11) The attendance fee (for listeners and pulpils) must be paid in 2 installments: half is to be paid before the first session while the other half is to be paid before the third session.
12) Applications fees and attendance fees must be received in full. Any bank fees must be paid by the sender, or the application will be deemed not valid.
13) Pulling out of the course after the first session does not free the student of their obligation towrds the full payment. By signing up areccepting these rules.
LEONID MARGARIUS,
born in the Ukraine, there he received a specialized musical education, developing his talent under the guidance of Regina Horowitz in the town of Kharkov. He then went on to conclude his studies in the School for High Musical Specialization at the Conservatory of Moscow. After intensive concert activity, he proved himself to be both an extraordinary teacher and mentor to numerous young artists as well as the winners of some of the most prestigious international piano competitions: First Prizes at the “Reine Elizabeth” (Queen Elizabeth) Competition in Brussels (1999), the Busoni of Bolzano in Italy (1992 and 2001), the Montreal Competition in Canada (1996), the Paloma O’Shea in Santander, Spain (2005),the Maria Canals(Barcelona 2010,2014), the Maj Lind in Helsinki, Finland (2002), the Concertino of Prague in the Czech Republic (1991), the Minnesota International e-Piano Competition(USA,2009), the Pinerolo Competition in Italy(1998),the "Viotti" in Vercelli(2005), the “Città di Cantù” (City of Cantù) (1998,2001,2005 2006),the“Premio Venezia”(Venezia 2007,2008,2012),the Chopin Competition ( Roma 2009) in Italy among others; Second Prizes at Busoni, Italy (2003), Rubenstein in Tel Aviv (1996), the London Competition in the United Kingdom (2002,2009), and the Long-Thibaud in Paris, France (2004),the Maj Lind in Finland (2012) among others.
His apprentices have also distinguished themselves at the aforementioned Tchiaikovsky Competition in Moscow,Reine Elizabeth Competition(2003,2007,2010), the Chopin Competition in Warsaw (Poland), and the Leeds Competition (United Kingdom 1989,2009), as well as competitions in Hamamatsu (Japan) and Sydney (Australia), the Unisa Competition in Pretoria (South Africa), the Schumann Competition in Zwickau (Germany), the Bach Competitions in Leipzig and Saarbrucken (Germany), the Lysenko Competitions in Kiev and Lvov (Ukraine) as well as many others. For his outstanding personal contribution given to national cultural development as well as his role in the preparation of the country’s musical elite, the President of the Republic of Ukraine awarded Maestro Margarius with the title of “Leading Personality in the World of Culture” in 1993.
Since 1995, Leonid Margarius has been a professor at the “Incontri col Maestro” International Piano Academy in Imola, Italy.
He is often called to take part in judging some of the most important piano competitions and he holds Master Classes in various countries throughout the world.
